1935 Joe Louis v Max Baer lithograph by Joseph Golinkin (signed by Golinkin to Nat Fleischer)
This is a scare limited edition lithograph by acclaimed artist Joseph Webster Golinkin. Circa 1935, the print is number 30 from a run of just 50. Signed by Golinkin to the lower right corner in pencil. The scene captures the dominance of Louis, who stopped former champion Max Baer in the fourth round of their important heavyweight contest. The total size of the print is 19.5" x 23". The condition must be described as poor due to the missing upper right corner and small corner clip to the top left. There is edge wear including a few small tears, and some light soiling to the borders, none of which effect the main image. This print regularly sells for $3-4k in good condition. The buyer could have the missing corner restored or matt the piece diagonally across it The litho was previously part of Nat Fleischer's personal collection and has been inscribed to him by Golinkin in the lower left border.
