The original bronze medal won by Brian Curvis in the Welterweight division at the 1958 British Empire & Commonwealth Games, held in Cardiff. Prior to the Games, Curvis also won an A.B.A. Welterweight title during his period of National Service. He went on to be British and Commonwealth Welterweight Champion during a stellar professional career, and was defeated in a brave world title shot against Emile Griffith in 1964. The medal comes in it's original presentation box and is accompanied by an old display card, stating that the medal was presented by H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh. The medal is in excellent condition - the box is good.
