Antique Dutch Championship belt
A rare antique boxing belt from the Netherlands, circa late nineteenth/early twentieth century. The belt would most likely have been awarded to a national Champion. It consists of a red, white and blue silk sash, with a central pierced plaque with electrotype medallion inscribed "KAMPIOENSCHAT VAN NEDERLAND ZW. GEW". The central plaque is linked by chains to smaller side plaques, each of which features a shields of arms. Measures 10 x 103 cm. In good condition: the sash is grubby and soiled. Some bleeding of the colour in places. The central medallion is partly detached from plaque.
