Official on-site poster from Convention Hall, Miami Beach on February 7, 1961. Top of the bill, Harold Johnson met Jesse Bowdry for the World's Light-Heavyweight Championship. Perhaps more importantly, a young Cassius Clay fought Jimmy Robinson in just his fourth professional bout. Clay made short work of his opponent (a last-minute substitute for Willie Gullatt), belting him out in the first round. A quick barrage of rights and lefts to the head put Robinson down. He staggered to his feet at the count of nine but was in no condition to continue, and the referee stopped the one-sided affair at 1:34 of the opening round. In the main event, Harold Johnson beat Jesse Bowdry by TKO at 0:45 in round 9 of a scheduled 15.
The poster is in fair/good condition. There are vertical creases lines that run down the poster, approximately 1/2 an inch from each side. Tack holes and creases to the four corners, and a small tear to the lower left. Minor stain below Bowdry's name. The year has been neatly written in pen next to the date. 22 x 14 inches. A rare early Cassius Clay poster.
