1946 Joe Louis v Tami Mauriello fight film poster (40" x 60")
A seldom seen large format advertising poster for fight pictures of the Joe Louis v Tami Mauriello contest. Louis successfully defended his Heavyweight Title for the twenty third time against 'The Bronx Barkeep', prevailing via first round KO victory at the Yankee Stadium. The Italian-American wasn't overawed by the champion. With the very first punch of the fight Mauriello clipped Louis on the temple and sent him reeling into the ropes as the throng rose and bellowed its excitement. The Champion, more surprised than hurt, took after his opponent, tearing him apart and leaving him helplessly draped over the middle rope at 2:09 of the opening stanza. The poster measures an impressive 40" x 60" and is undoubtedly one of the finest Louis posters available to collectors. It's rarity only deepens the appeal. In VG-EX vintage condition with minor edge tears and light soiling in a few places. One larger 3" tear to the lower border. A truly magnificent fight poster which would grace any wall.
