An original antique CdV of English boxing champion Charley Mitchell. Mitchell met John L Sullivan twice, including a bloody two hour battle in Chantilly, France 1888. He also fought for the world heavyweight championship in 1894, losing by third round KO to James J Corbett. The carte de visite measures approximately 4 x 2.5" and presents in VG-EX condition. There is some light surface creasing notable to the back side and a little age spotting. The front displays superbly for the age of the piece.
