These are Light Heavyweight legend Archie Moore's fight worn shorts. The black and white satin trunks were used by Archie in his second fight with Yvon Durelle (for the NYSAC & NBA Light Heavyweight World Titles) and his heavyweight contest with Pete Rademacher. The shorts have a white waistband and pointed stripes down the sides. Archie has beautifully signed the waistband in black marker - the autograph is a whopping thirteen inches in length. The shorts remain in VG-EX condition with some soiling and age related toning. There appears to be an old blood stain down one of the side stripes. With scant few Archie Moore fight worn pieces ever entering the market, don't miss this rare opportunity.
Provenance: The shorts were originally purchased from Archie Moore - along with the gloves and robe we also have - by Marty Jacobs of the Sands Hotel Boxing Museum in Las Vegas. They were then purchased from Jacobs by Bob Case in 1985 (Bob is the Vice-President of the International Boxing Association). The items were later acquired by renowned collector David Gainsborough Roberts. Included with the shorts is a copy of the original letter of provenance written and signed by Bob Case in 1992.
1959-08-12 : Archie Moore 174¼ lbs beat Yvon Durelle 173 lbs by KO at 2:52 in round 3 of 15.
