An eye-catching promotional poster for fight films of the Middleweight Championship contest between Sugar Ray Robinson and Carmen Basilio. Robinson - the reigning Champion - dropped a fifteen round split decision in the Ring Magazine's 1957 Fight of the Year. The poster has been professionally linen backed and undergone light cosmetic restoration. The left and right hand borders are slightly uneven due to slight paper loss. The poster was previously folded and has a few spots of tape remnant around the edges. In very faint, barely visible writing along the top, somebody has written April 30th - May 1st. These were presumably the dates that the film was showing in that location. There are a few spots of paper infill where the folds intersect and in the corners. The poster represents an attractive display piece from an all time classic middleweight fight. US one-sheet, approximately 27" x 41" in size - slightly more with the linen backing.
