A rare on-site poster from the legendary "Thrilla in Manila", the third and final meeting between heavyweight greats Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The paper poster measures 24" x 34" and features the instantly recognisable graphic of Ali & Frazier's heads intermeshed in the centre of the poster, with blue and red text declaring "A Thrilla in Manila - Ali Frazier - Fight of a Lifetime - Philippines". VG condition, especially considering the passage of 45 years and the thousands of miles travelled. There is toning to the four corners and several minor edge tears/chips. A tiny piece is missing from the lower right corner.
In a display of brutal punishment and unmatched toughness, the two legends pummelled each other four fourteen rounds before trainer Eddie Futch refused to allow Frazier out for the fifteenth and final round, fearing for his boxer's life. Ali later commented that it was also the closest he'd ever come to death in the ring, declaring Frazier as the second greatest fighter in boxing history.
